What is Childfind?
-
It is the Pennsylvania Department of Education's (PDE’s) policy that all children with disabilities residing in the State, including children with disabilities attending private schools, regardless of the severity of their disability, and who are in need of special education and related services, are identified, located, and evaluated. The School District is required to meet childfind obligations via screening and evaluation for all students enrolled in the public school, or, following public notice in media and with notifications made available at private schools, upon parent request for students enrolled in private schools.
