My name is Melissa Andrews and I am excited to join the Octorara School District as an Assistant Principal at the Junior Senior High School. My experience largely involves student achievement data analysis and organizing interventions for students who are behind in reading and math. I have worked in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Harrisburg with students from varied backgrounds.

 

The most important lesson I have learned is that kids are resilient and they all want to learn, no matter their age, their neighborhood, or their ability level. Every student wants to better him/herself and it is our job as educators to provide every opportunity to help our students grow to their fullest potential.

 

My first year at Octorara will be centered around building MTSS and laying the groundwork for a truly data-driven secondary school. When I'm not at my son's soccer games, you will find me gardening or hanging out in my backyard enjoying a campfire.
