Student Services/Special Education

  • Welcome to the Special Education Department...

    where every child counts!

Special Education services enable each eligible student to access a free and appropriate public education with all supports and services necessary in the least restrictive environment. In addition to our own resources, we utilize the Chester County Intermediate Unit and other providers to deliver the services necessary for a student to make meaningful progress.

If you are transferring your child (who has already been defined as a child with an educational disability) to Octorara Area School District from another Pennsylvania school district, your student’s current IEP will be honored as closely as possible until a revised IEP can be presented (within approximately 30 calendar days of your student’s start date). The School District may require additional information and request a reevaluation. If you are transferring your child (who has already been defined as a child with an educational disability) to the Octorara Area School District from another state or country, the School District will honor the IEP to the best of its ability and will evaluate your child to ensure that your child’s needs are being met according to the laws and guidelines of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
