Octorara Virtual Academy
OVA Mission Statement
The Octorara Virtual Academy will provide opportunities for a more relevant and personalized education for students.
OVA Vision Statement
Every student will take an online class or blended course of study prior to graduation.
The Octorara Virtual Academy will open registration on September 29 for those that want their child to remain out of the building. Registration will close on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. If you are interested in OVA for your Jr/Sr High School student, please contact your child's school counselor.
If your student is not a current Octorara Area School District student or he/she currently is home-schooled or attends a cyber charter school, the parent/guardian will need to register the student at the OASD office. Please call Cheryl Todd at 610-593-8238, ext 3501 to schedule an appointment. Information regarding the paperwork needed to complete registration can be found and printed from the OASD website.
Notice: No more registrations are being taken at this time; however any secondary students interested, please contact your school counselor as soon as possible.
Please visit the OVA course search engine here (Edison courses are not loaded as of 7/27/2020.) Each provider has different courses to offer and each has different benefits. The OVA facilitator and your school counselor can help you with making a decision on which provider would be best for your student. We utilize Accelerate Education for all elementary classes. Information regarding all Accelerate Ed courses can be found here. Any questions on providers should be directed to your school counselor or the OVA facilitators.
If a student will not be a full-time OVA student at home, please indicate this when submitting the registration form. Parents are responsible for transportation in the case of a part-time enrollment with OVA since bus transportation is only available at the regularly scheduled time. For any special considerations with transportation , please contact Mr. Peticca. Please consult your counselor to see if part-time enrollment would be feasible depending on the classes scheduled for online vs. in the building.
It can take 5 business days or more to have a student begin OVA after the registration form is received and registration is complete. An OVA orientation meeting will be scheduled and a contract will be presented outlining parent and student responsibilities. Once the contract is agreed to and signed, a student schedule will then be generated and the student will be enrolled in the OVA . This orientation will take approximately 30 minutes - 1 hour. Onboarding - logging into the computer, logging into courses, accessing help, etc. will occur either virtually or in person. This will take approximately an hour.
OVA orientations are scheduled on an individual basis once registration is received.
